We have recently had an opportunity to meet with a number of stakeholders in the maritime sector in the Netherlands including surveyors, port authorities and investors to introduce NNPC Correspondents and to explain the role of a P&I Correspondent. Based on these conversations we wish to take the opportunity to explain our role and the value of involving a P&I Correspondent whenever shipowners or their insurers need assistance.
What is a P&I Correspondent: a P&I correspondent acts as the local representative of P&I clubs and their members including for shipowners, operators, and charterers. With our network and experience in the Netherlands we are ideally placed to assist our principals whenever they are faced with any local problems.
Emergency Response and Claims Handling: Our first role is to provide immediate response in case of maritime incidents, accidents, or emergencies. With our 24/7 service model we are available at all times to assist our principals and to respond to urgent request for assistance.
Investigation and Evidence gathering: With our combined decades long experience in the Dutch market and experience with European inland shipping we are able to conduct investigations into incidents, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance: As shipowners are well aware, the different legal and regulatory frameworks in each country can be difficult to navigate. Having us as a local partner helps our principals to navigate the legal requirements specific to the Netherlands.
Representation in Legal Proceedings: In the event of legal disputes or litigation, a P&I correspondents will serve as local representatives of shipowner and their P&I club, liaising with legal counsel, attending court hearings, and protecting the interests of their principals.
Communication and Coordination: Effective communication and coordination are essential in maritime operations. P&I correspondents serve as the link between P&I clubs, shipowners, charterers, insurers, and other stakeholders, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration to resolve issues efficiently.
In summary, as P&I correspondents we have in-depth knowledge of local laws, regulations, customs, and practices, are in a position to promptly respond to emergencies and provide seamless support and assistance to shipowners and their insurers members wherever they operate, ensuring consistent service and peace of mind. Combined with the experience and network of the NNPC we are in a unique position to protect the interest of our principals.
We invite you to contact us 24/7 for any P&I or claims related matter in the Netherlands and European waterways.
Finally, we are also pleased to report that we will be joining NNPC and IMU at Breakbulk Europe 2024 at 1C24 on 21-23 May 2024.
