5 years of NNPC Correspondents: 2021-2026

    19th February 2026
    NNPC Correspondents

NNPC Marine insurance launched NNPC Correspondents BV on 20 February 2021 as a subsidiary of NNPC based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to provide services in the Netherlands and throughout European waterways as P&I Correspondent.

Right from the first day, NNPC Correspondents offers an all-in 24/7 service for all P&I and marine insurance related claims and disputes including: cargo claims, legal disputes and sanctions, contracts, surveys, collisions, oil spills, personal injury and stowaways .

We aim to provide excellent and cost-effective services, with particular attention to the following items.

    • Ensure efficient claims handling and quick handling times.
    • Tailor make our services to meet clients’ requirements and needs.
    • Continuously provide and monitor budgets and cost estimates.
    • Provide fixed pricing based for fixed work (such as preloading and draft surveys).
    • Ensure continuous communications with our principals and ensure expectations are managed and deadlines are met.

We are confident that NNPC Correspondents offer the maritime and insurance industries significant added value in all claims and legal related matters in the Netherlands and European inland waterways, and even outside Europe. On occasion, we were able to assist clients from countries outside Europe with matters in various parts of the world during the past five years.

    Invaluable trust and essential support

It goes without saying that NNPC Correspondents could not have been successful in recent years without the support of its clients. The Clubs that have included us on their list of Correspondents or recognized us as approved alternatives, have been instrumental in the development of NNPC Correspondents from scratch. And, of course, the occasional trust placed in us by P&I Clubs, shipowners and others has contributed to our success. We would like to thank all our regular and one-off clients for their trust and support.

    Strong base in the Netherlands

We can say that in recent years we have secured a firm place in the field of service providing companies in the port and shipping industry.
Our experienced team maintains local and international networks that can be called upon at any time to assist our clients. Where necessary, we can draw on the knowledge and experience of NNPC Marine Insurance and its affiliate Insure Marine Underwriting (IMU) to raise the level of service we provide even higher.

We do not hesitate to share our knowledge and experience. We provide information via LinkedIn posts, articles on our website and the News Update, which is published four times a year. Keep following us!

    Across borders

International shipping is an industry that is by definition cross-border. NNPC Correspondents is therefore also available as a consultant in the field of P&I and maritime claims for insurers, shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and others, in the Netherlands and abroad.
A very concrete example of our work outside the Netherlands is our collaboration with Iberum P&I.

Iberum P&I has been operational since 1 January 2024. Iberum P&I offers assistance in all Spanish, Portuguese and Algerian ports. Over the past two years, they have received instructions from NNPC Marine Insurance, UK P&I Club, NorthStandard and others.

The Iberum P&I team got off to a flying start, dealing with a grounding and a complex general average case right at the beginning of their existence. This was in addition to more regular cases such as cargo claims and claims for shortages.

    The coming years and beyond

NNPC Correspondents and Iberum P&I will continue to develop their collaboration in the coming years, jointly within the NNPC Marine Insurance Group, which as mentioned above also includes Insure Marine Underwriting (IMU).

In the coming years and beyond, shipping will face many challenges. By sharing knowledge and being continuously available to provide advice and assistance, NNPC Correspondents wants to work with its clients to offer solutions to those challenges. At the same time, day-to-day work continues. We remain available 24/7 for that work as well.
